By the sea at Winneba

Scroll, and the snow will melt

Winter

Before

For a long while it was always winter

Caleb was in Takoradi, building a harbour wall. Abigail was in Accra, teaching other people's children to read. Neither of them knew what they were waiting for.

The thaw

One Sunday in Winneba

Then something began to melt

One hymn book between two strangers in the back pew. She had it and he needed it, so they shared. By the last verse neither was looking at the page.

Spring

Now

And everything is in flower

Three years of Sundays later, they are getting married, by the sea, in April. The whole land is invited, and so are you.

A map of the land

Four places on one road

Every event is a place on the map. Tap one to see when, where, and what to wear.

A hand-drawn map: a road winds from a house in a village, past a walled courtyard with a great tree and a church on a hill, to a castle on a cliff above the sea.
A castle of pale golden stone on a green hill above the sea, crimson and gold banners flying from its towers in the evening light.
